Critters

A local found a dead mountain lion nearby. It’s jaw had been badly broken and it had other injuries. Usually mortally wounded animals crawl off into a private place to die, but this body was almost right on a popular trail. So the mountain lion must’ve died quick.
The theory I’ve heard is the lion encountered a mama bear with cubs that have been seen in the same area often. Maybe was even trying to attack one of the cubs. It makes me a bit nervous, knowing there is a mother bear and cubs close by. The cubs did come into the campground once, a month ago. No sign of Momma, but there was a big pile of bear poo next to the bathroom the next day.
