I was walking the pier at Ocean Beach California tonight. There were a lot of fishermen (and women) doing their thing. I was surprised to see that most of them had tied glow sticks to lines. I chatted with one guy and he said that the sticks do three things; help him know where his line is, attracts fish, and alerts him when a fish strikes the hook. He also uses bits of octopus for bait. Mackerel fish is what his target is.
I watched for awhile but I’m easily bored and wanted to finish my walk and hit the sack. I walked by a few bars that were very busy, due to St. Patrick’s Day. But I rarely drink and felt sleepy anyway.
